“Even when we interact daily with people of other ethnic groups, we rarely talk about racial issues.
It seems too scary to people. But we must
start doing it! We have
to break down the
barriers between us and talk openly, honestly, and with respect. The rewards far outweigh any concerns we may have.”
- Sue Alperin

The LUSU Multicultural Centre (MCC) seeks to increase public awareness about multiculturalism and strives to become a unique place on campus. It promotes peace and friendship amoung all cultures. This centre serves as a resource and referral centre and will host many fun events throughout the year. It is a caring space on campus that welcomes all people and values their diversity. The centre also encourages students to take pride in their cultural heritage and to become more accepting of other cultures.

Our principals and beliefs

Multiculturalism:

  • Builds knowledge of diverse ideas, values, perspectives, and experiences
  • Engages others with civility, empathy, honesty, and responsibility
  • Examines one’s own attitudes, values, assumptions and considers their impact
  • Challenges past, present, and future discrimination and privilege of
    individuals, societies, groups, and institution
